If it's the first Saturday in December in Austin, Texas it means one thing: the German-Texan Heritage Society's annual Christmas Market.
The annual festival takes place at the German Free School downtown just west of I-35 on E. 10th ST, near Red River ST (see map below) and is organized by the German-Texan Heritage Society.

The Society was formed in 1978 to preserve and commemorate the cultural contributions made by the large number of early German immigrants to Texas. The society also celebrates German-Texan heritage through two other annual events: Maifest and Oktoberfest.
The Christmas Market offers shoppers hand-made imported crafts and plenty of Christmas themed decorations such as nutcrackers and ornaments.
The festival also features live Christmas music throughout the day, used German books for sale, Glühwein (hot spiced wine), and even a rumored visit by St. Nikolaus.
