Austin Grackle on a Bench

by Scott White
(Detroit, MI USA)

Austin Grackle on a Bench

Austin Grackle on a Bench

I took this shot in Austin when I was on a Dodge Journey video shoot. We have Grackles in Michigan but not as many, and not as big. The Austin variety also seem to have a very different set of songs and calls. So much so that I wonder if they are different species? This one seemed very calm and allowed me to get pretty close. He was there just long enough for me to notice his beak lining up with the arrow in the street. I snapped the shot and he flew away.

Austin Photo Set
by: Brad Castro

Forgot to mention this in my first comment - visitors can also check out the other pictures from your Austin Photo Set on Flickr (I really liked the photo of the old El Camino with the streetlight in the background).

Grackle and the Arrow
by: Brad Castro

That is a cool photo, Scott. Thanks for sharing.

I really like how the beak lines up or converges with the arrow. I probably wouldn't have noticed that myself until after I'd taken the photo.

Thanks again for sharing.
