The festival benefits a variety of local children-oriented charities including the Austin Children's Shelter (which was the Real Austin Texas Featured Austin Nonprofit for June 2010). The event features a number of ice cream contests: Ice Cream Eating, Homemade Ice Cream Making, Popsicle Stick Sculpture, and, surely one that never gets old or annoying, a Screaming contest.
