Co-sponsored by 93.3 KGSR-FM and SXSW, the awards show, which also features an evening of live performances by many of the nominees, has typically functioned as the unofficial kick off to SXSW. Beginning in 2010, however, the AMA will take place on the final night of SXSW and function instead as the culmination of the festival.
