Bastille Day in Austin is an annual celebration held in the gardens of the French Legation Museum. Bastille Day is a national French holiday that commemorates the storming of the Bastille (medieval prison in Paris) on July 14, 1789, an early development in the French Revolution.

The Austin celebration features live music, wine, food from local restaurants, live entertainment, a fundraising auction, and a relaxed setting on the grounds of the French Legation Museum.The event draws somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 attendees. Proceeds from the celebration benefit Alliance Française d'Austin, an Austin nonprofit which provides resources for learning French as well as fostering cultural and artistic exchanges between the U.S. and French-speaking countries. The French Legation Museum in Austin was constructed in 1841 to serve as the offices and home of French diplomat, Jean Pierre Isador Alphonse Dubois de Saligny. It remained in private hands until 1949 when it was purchased by the State of Texas. and opened to the public as a museum in 1956 under custodianship by the Daughters of The Republic of Texas.
