Batstravaganza Fun Run and Family Festival
May 1, 2010
8:00 am - Noon
Scott & White Healthcare - Round Rock Hospital
Festival Admission - Free
Fun Run Registration ($15-$20)
Sponsored and hosted by Scott and White Healthcare, the annual Batstravaganza first began in 2008. The event includes a 1K fun run for the kids and a noncompetitive 5K for the adults (although chip timing will be available).
A family-oriented half-day festival follows with plenty of activities for the kids.
[Admission to the festival is free but registration runs $15-20 for participation in the fun runs.]
The event takes place in Round Rock, just a few exits north of Austin on I-35 (exit 256) at the Scott & White Round Rock Hospital (see map below).
What's the bat connection? Although the Austin bats that emerge from beneath the Congress Avenue bridge at dusk are more famous, Round Rock has its own smaller migratory colonies of the same Mexican free-tail bats.
And according to the Scott & White website, all Batstravaganza attendees will receive a free Baxter the Bat stuffed animal.
Other highlights include:
- Biscuit Brothers concert
- BEVO from the Longhorns
- Rock climbing
- Face painting
- Clown entertainment
- Caricature drawings
- Moonwalks
- Raffles
Additionally, there will also be wellness booths and massages available.
All proceeds benefit Hope Alliance.
