Austin's Artisan Bistro Presents Beaujolais Nouveau on Thursday, November 18, 2010 - Experience French Food, Music, and Culture in the Heart of Lakeway

Each year, on the third Thursday in November the Beaujolais wine producers release their Beaujolais nouveau. What was once a very local tradition has in recent decades become an international race to bring Beaujolais nouveau to markets around the world.

Artisan celebrates the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau 2010 with a night of 'Beaujolais Passions' with French culinary extraordinaire and indeed re-creating the French ceremony in the Heart of Lakeway.

Artisan, a French bistro, wine bar and bakery located at 900 Ranch Road 620 S in Lakeway, will present Beaujolais Nouveau on Thursday, November 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Celebration will include the debut of Beaujolais Nouveau wines, live music, dancing, games (such as pétanque, a bocce-like lawn bowling game), food, and setups from local vendors. Chef d'Andrea will present French cooking demos, and Artisan's wine buyer Mike Bryan will hold a Beaujolais Nouveau wine tasting. The Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration is open to Francophiles of all ages.

"All over France, grand traditions have developed in honor of the release of the Beaujolais, with the biggest festival taking place in Beaujeu, the capital of the Beaujolais region. This little city springs to life during this weekend in November, hosting a massive party called Sarmentelles" d'Andrea says. "We want to share the festivity with the people of Austin."
