Central Texas Air Show
April 30 - May 2, 2010
Temple, Texas (Temple Airport) Admission - Varies - Up to $25 for weekend pass
Located an hour or so north of Austin in Temple, Texas, the Central Texas Air Show is a 3 day event that doesn't disappoint.
The show features everything from demos and fly-bys to fireworks and RC airplanes and helicopters.
One of the highlights of the 2010 air show is the opportunity to actually fly in a restored B-17 Bomber (TEXAS RAIDERS) from World War II. The price tag is a bit hefty at $425 for a 20-30 minute flight, but according to the CTAS site, it is tax deductible as it benefits the Gulf Coast Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, the nonprofit that restored the bomber.
Also featured at the 2010 air show is the Virtual Army Experience: "The high-tech, team-based mission challenges participants, 13-years and older, to employ teamwork, rules of engagement, leadership and state-of-the-art military technology to successfully complete their mission."
