With all the other higher profile and longer running Austin art and Christmas bazaars in December (such as the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, the Blue Genie Art Bazaar, and the Wheatsville Arts Festival), don't overlook the Cherrywood Art Fair. You've only got one weekend to catch it.

The fair has been an annual event since 2002 and is located at Cherrywood Elementary School just east of I-35 (38 1/2 ST & Maplewood Ave - see map below).

With 100+ art exhibitors (see 2011 Cherrywood Art Fair exhibitor list here) and nearly dozen live music acts, there should be something for everyone - including the kids. They'll love the kids' art area where they can create their own masterpieces while you browse.

In addition to the great art and entertainment, the fair is a non-profit organization that does important work. Proceeds from the fair support East Austin public art and beautification projects as well as help fund a robust art program at Maplewood Elementary.
