Deutschen Pfest is the big annual cultural and heritage festival in nearby Pflugerville (one exit north of Austin on I-35). It's been celebrated each year since 1976.
Held primarily at Pfluger Park, the 3 day festival features live music, plenty of artisan vendors, a parade (as well as a children's parade), a Pfun Run 5K (and 1K for the kids), tons of activities for the kids, and of course, lots of food vendors.
Scheduled 2010 Deutschen Pfest headliners: Dale Watson (Saturday night) and Bruce Robison (Sunday afternoon).
Parking is not permitted at Pfluger Park, but there will be shuttles available at Pflugerville High School and Brookhollow Elementary School.
This is a pretty family-friendly event. From the city's website: "Please leave your coolers, alcoholic beverages, pets, skateboards, and bikes at home – they cannot be brought into the Pfest."
