Lamar Austin's Fantastic Fest is a week long (technically 8 days) film festival celebrating genre films from horror and fantasy to science fiction and the just plain weird. Or, as Fantastic Fest describes itself, "the film festival with the boring parts cut out." The festival has quickly grown in both popularity and respect since it debuted in 2005. It's the largest genre film festival in the United States and is frequently included in any "Best Film Festivals . . ." list.
