What? Round Rock restaurants in an Austin Restaurant Guide? Well, it's conveniently just up the road a bit (north) from Austin (Exit 252B on I-35), and it's good enough to be included in any collection of Austin restaurant reviews. [From Austin, go north on I-35, take the FM 620 exit (#252-B), turn right onto 620, turn right one block ahead on San Saba and then proceed two blocks until San Saba curves into W Main - you can't miss it.] Quite simply, this is some of the best Tex-Mex you're going to find in or around Austin. There's nothing especially unique or extensive about the menu, but every meal I've ever eaten there has been terrific.
Part of that sensation is owing to the restaurant itself which is housed inside a fairly small (and fairly old) house. This is like your Grandmother's old country house (unless you're a Rockefeller). Seating is somewhat limited and sitting in the booths can sometimes feel a bit snug. Margaritas are available, but there's not room for a full bar. There is, however, an enclosed patio in the back that is sometimes available.
