Hot to Trot 5K and Kid's K (Chuy's)

A fun and popular Austin tradition since 1984, the Hot to Trot 5K and Kid K is organized and sponsored by Chuy's Tex-Mex Restaurants.

The event features both a timed competitive 5K category (including a competitive wheelchair category) as well as a 5K fun run that typically ends up being very fun in that Austin weird sort of way. And the Kid K is also a terrific opportunity for the younger crowd to get out and enjoy the fun.

Hot to Trot benefits the Special Olympics. In 2009, the event raised $20,000 for the organization.

Registration is done online. Packets can be picked up the Thurday and Friday prior to the event (May 5-6, 2011 12:00pm - 8:00 pm at Chuy's @ Arbor Trails) and, of course, on the day of the event (beginning at 6:30 am).

The event is held at the Chuy's Arbor Trails location in South Austin.

In addition to Hot to Trot, Chuy's also co-founded the annual Children Giving to Children Christmas Parade, held in downtown on Thanksgiving Weekend since 1989.
