Japan May Festival Austin
May 2011
O. Henry Middle School
Admission - $5 (Free for members & children under 15)
Update: The 2011 Japan May Festival has been canceled so that the Japan-America Society of Greater Austin, who organizes the event, can focus on running Japanese relief programs - they are, however, planning on having another festival in the fall (Aki Matsuri).
Organized by the Japan-America Society of Greater Austin, the annual Satsuki Matsuri (Japan May Festival) has been celebrated in Austin since 2006.
The event celebrates Japanese culture and features traditional Japanese music, dancing, food, beverages, and a silent auction for gift certificates from various local businesses.
From the JASGA website: "The Japan-America Society of Greater Austin, Inc. (JASGA) is a nonprofit organization bridging the cultures of Japan and central Texas by promoting friendly US-Japan relations through educational and cultural programs for its members and the Greater Austin community."
