MLK Celebration March and Festival - Austin Events
The annual MLK Celebration in Austin consists of a downtown march followed up by a partial day festival on the campus of Huston-Tillotson University. The event typically draws approximately 15,000 people.

The Community March begins with a brief ceremony on the UT campus at the MLK statue at 9:00 am.

Normally, the march proceeds to the State Capitol for another ceremony but due to preparations for the Texas gubernatorial inauguration scheduled for the next day, January 18, 2011, the Capitol Grounds will be closed.

The march culminates at the nearby campus of Huston-Tillotson University for a Cultural Festival celebrating the legacy of Dr. King and the rich diversity of Austin. The festival lasts until 4:00 pm. There will be live music and numerous vendors.
