Sapling Days October 1, 7, 14, 15, and 21, 2011 (2011 Saplings - Escarpment Live Oaks and Texas Redbud) Downtown Austin
Sapling Days in Austin is a unique fall tradition organized by the Austin nonprofit TreeFolks.Each fall, the group, with its slogan, "Making Austin Shadier for More Than 20 Years," distributes free saplings to the public (while supplies last). For Sapling Days 2011, the free saplings are: Excarpment Live Oak and Texas Redbud (see more info here).

Austin Sapling Days - Dates and Locations
The trees are distributed in downtown Austin on multiple dates in October. For 2011, the posted schedule is:- October 1, 2011 - N. Lamar @ Whole Earth
- October 7, 2011 - "Downtown along Congress Avenue"
- October 14, 2011 - "Downtown along Congress Avenue"
- October 15, 2011 - Howson Branch Library @ 1:30 p.m
- October 21, 2011 - "Downtown along Congress Avenue"
Note: All times (except 10/15) are from noon until the sapling supply runs out.The event is sponsored by Randalls Supermarkets and the Apache Foundation.
