Texas Rock Fest
March 17-21, 2010
Downtown (Outdoor Stages) Admission - FREE
Texas RockFest (not to be confused with San Antonio's South Texas Rockfest), originally known as The Heart of Texas Quadruple Bypass Music Festival, is purposely scheduled to coincide with SXSW when the music world descends on Austin.
The festival, which originated in 2000, is not affiliated with SXSW. On the contrary, it's more of an in your face antithesis to Austin's premiere music festival (see festival organizer/promoter Adam Brewer's introduction of Austin band YAYO in video #2 below).
The 5 day event has grown to now (2010) include hundreds of performers playing 30 minute sets at four downtown (and outdoor) locations: Spill, Malaia, Treasure Island, and a couple of outdoor stages at 7th and Neches. The best part? No cover and no wristbands.
